Further information

We are looking for skilled theatre nurses to join our teams across Northumberland and North Tyneside and work from our hospital theatre departments in Hexham, North Tyneside, Wansbeck, Alnwick and Berwick.

We have 23 theatres across our Trust and we are opening a state of the art Emergency care Centre in 2015 which will incorporate 6 new theatres.
These are all full time, permanent positions. There are a number of posts which would suit both newly qualified and experienced applicants. ODP/nurse students approaching the end of their training are encouraged to apply.

You should be 1st or 2nd level live NMC Registered General Nurse or HPC registered Operating Department Practitioner.

Applicants will be given the opportunity to rotate through the different theatre areas to expand and develop their skills.

A period of preceptorship will be given to all newly qualified staff. Following the preceptorship period there will be an expectation that the successful candidates will participate in the on call rota, both weekday and weekend shifts and night duty as required.

Applications are invited for motivated and enthusiastic practitioners who have the imagination and drive to contribute to these exciting new developments within the Trust.

Good communication and organisational skills as well as the ability to work as part of a team are also necessary.

This is an ideal development opportunity for staff wishing to gain further experience in this area.

Applicants must have the ability to meet the transport requirements of the post.

Our brand new state of the art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington is currently under construction and will open in 2015.   This hospital will be dedicated to providing services seven days a week to those people who are very sick with a sudden or prolonged illness.

The post you are applying for may be based at the new Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington when this opens in 2015 however until the completion of the hospital you will be based Trustwide.

The post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

In order for your application to be successfully processed we will require references from your current and previous employer(s) which must cover a minimum period of three years.  Please ensure that the reference section of your application is completed appropriately giving the address, telephone number and work email address of each of your current and previous line manager(s).  If this section is not fully completed your application may not be processed.

The post will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is committed to ensuring a safe and high quality of patient care underpinned by our Trust values.  It is expected that all employees demonstrate their commitment to these in their daily activity.

All newly qualified staff, staff returning to practice after an extended break or staff working for the NHS for the first time, will be expected to undertake the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Preceptorship Programme. This is a level 6 Accredited Work Based Learning Programme delivered in association with Northumbria University and full participation is mandatory.

The post is subject to the Agenda for Change: NHS Terms and Conditions of Service Handbook.

You will be contacted via your NHS Jobs account within 1 month after the closing date, it is important you regularly check your emails as any interview details will be communicated to you via NHS Jobs and not by post.
