Further information

Following a comprehensive internal review of inpatient nursing, South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust is investing an extra £2.1 million in nursing staff and is launching a national recruitment campaign for Band 5 Registered Mental Health nurses for services across the London Boroughs of Wandsworth, Merton, Sutton, Richmond and Kingston. The services include forensic, CAMHS, eating disorders for children and adults, mental health services for deaf children and adults and services for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive and body-dysmorphic disorders. With a range of local and national specialist services we aim to provide excellent clinical care underpinned by up-to-date research.

As a University Hospital Trust we ensure all our nurses have on-going support, providing opportunities to strengthen current skills and develop new ones.  We ensure all nurses access regular on-going clinical supervision and all newly registered nurses will be supported to complete a formal preceptorship programme during their first year.  We also encourage all our nurses to gain a Nursing and Midwifery Council recognised mentorship qualification by completing an academic module with one of our linked universities. A nursing career with us ensures you are supported by the senior nursing team to participate in a range of educational opportunities that will enable you to continue to develop and enhance your nursing skills and knowledge.

To be considered for one of these positions you will have current NMC registration and be able to demonstrate initiative, passion and a good understanding of the needs of our clients. You will also be computer literate with a good level of numeracy skills and verbal and written English language skills. Please ensure you fully demonstrate your suitability for these positions in the Supporting Statement of your application form so that we can appropriately consider your application.

For more information and to apply please click on the apply now button and search for Reference No. 294-13CO293.

Closing date:  27th January 2014.

If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to attend our Nursing Recruitment Assessment Centre.

The assessment centre is an opportunity for you get a feel for the culture, leadership and learning opportunities at the Trust. As well as numeracy testing and a panel interview, the assessment will help us to identify whether you have the key knowledge, skills, core values and behaviours which typically characterise our nurses’ approaches and attitudes. If you are successful at the assessment centre we will match you to a vacancy which best meets your individual skills and competencies or according to your preference.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The NHS aims to employ a workforce which reflects the diversity of the local community.

We will not accept CVs as a form of application under any circumstances.

Accommodation for employees may be available on some Trust sites. For more information please email recruitment@swlstg-tr.nhs.uk
