Paediatric Theatre Clinical Manager who is able to demonstrate recent experience in Paediatric Theatre Nursing at F-grade or above. Clinical knowledge and experience of Paediatric Theatre Nursing including anaesthetics, recovery and scrub nursing. Experience of implementing research and audits of care. Teaching students at diploma/degree level. And who has a comprehensive understanding of risk management.


About the Role
To be responsible, with support from Lead Nurse for the effective management, organisation and delivery of high quality care and clinical leadership of the team within the Paediatric Theatre during the hours of operation. To act as a Paediatric Clinical Specialist and expert role model within Peri-Operative care, ensuring safe, effective, research based patient care.

Roles and Responsibilities
In conjunction with Lead Nurse -Paediatrics and Paediatric Consultant Surgeons and Anaesthetists assist with the continued development of the Paediatric Theatre including strategies for the advancement of nursing care in support of the Paediatric Centre's overall philosophy.
Help to produce an efficiently managed clinical environment by ensuring that the needs of patients, their families, staff and visitors are met to the highest possible standards.

Contribute with other senior professional colleagues to the strategic development and planning of care within the Paediatric Centre.
Act as a clinical expert and resource to facilitate development of Paediatric Theatre nursing in main theatres liaising with the theatre manager and nursing team in the main theatre complex of the hospital in the management of Paediatric Theatre cases to provide a high quality service for children treated in main theatres.
To be responsible for overseeing paediatric care in other hospital diagnostic departments which require general anaesthesia i.e. MRI, CT-scan, Angiography departments liaising with relevant heads of department.

PERSON SPECIFICATION- Essential
 

1ST Level Nurse (RSCN or RN Child) or a SODP/SODA
ENB 998 or equivalent qualification
ENB 182 (anaesthetic course)/ ENB 176 Theatre course
Must be able to demonstrate recent experience in Paediatric Theatre Nursing at

F-grade or above
Clinical knowledge and experience of Paediatric Theatre Nursing including anaesthetics, recovery and scrub nursing
Experience of implementing research and audits of care
Teaching students at diploma/degree level
Understanding of risk management
Proven record of managing change
Ability to negotiate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
Excellent organisational skills
Effective communication skills

About the Department
The Rainbow Operating Theatre complex consists of an operating room, an anaesthetic room & a 2 bedded recovery bay. It is directly attached to Starfish Ward so children don't have to come into contact with the main hospital.
