Bupa Care Services provides expert nursing, dementia, residential and specialist care to almost 18,000 people in over 300 UK homes. Our purpose is to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives. We are currently looking to appoint 2 x Relief Home Managers to work across a large portfolio of homes covering the Central & Wales Regions - you will be required to travel and over night stays will form part of this role.

 

About the role
• Providing expertise and hands-on assistance to homes in need of additional support, you will offer vital leadership and guidance when it’s needed most, stepping in when a Home Manager is absent or needs support to maintain the highest standards of care
• Playing a key role in people development within our homes, you will mentor new Home Managers as they establish themselves with their role and responsibilities whilst also managing challenging people issues, such as disciplinary procedures
• Responsible for identifying areas for improvement and applying the necessary changes, you will also bring focus to performance targets and ensure teams are working effectively to achieve and maintain results
• Creating and developing strong relationships with people both inside and outside the business, you will play an important role in raising the care home’s profile within the community
• You will take responsibility for analysing and assessing the financial viability of care homes together with implementing recommendations from external bodies, in full and on time
• It’s likely that substantial travel will be required, including occasional overnight stays and some evening commitments.

Who we’re looking for
• You must have Care Home Manager experience, or a management background within a care setting
• Someone who possesses a willingness to challenge, and an ability to thrive in demanding situations
• An ability to quickly understand and evaluate unfamiliar, sometimes complex situations
• You will be experienced in overcoming challenges within a care home environment and have the vision to see the bigger picture, consistently focusing on the long-term health and happiness of our residents
• You will be able to adapt your management style to meet the needs of the different care home environments and be flexible in your approach, able to persuade and influence at all levels
• Whilst being qualified as a level 1 Registered Nurse will be beneficial, it is not essential
