You will assist the Lead Nurse in the effective operational management of the department, the organisation and deliver high quality nursing care from admission to discharge and provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
Roles and Responsibilities
You will manage nurses and nursing services by organising the duty rota and patient allocation according to dependency/acuity model, anticipating requirements when clinical activity increases/decreases,
You will assist in forward planning of absences and the effective use of temporary staff ensuring correct grade and skill mix are in place to deliver care.
You will maintain professional nursing standards in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
You will manage direct reports effectively, delegating appropriately and holding them accountable for the delivery of specific objectives and targets, maximising their performance through regular performance coaching and review, and reflective practice, ensuring they meet the required standards in their current job whilst developing their skills and knowledge.
You will maintain positive working relationships with all Consultants, ensuring individual Consultant protocols are utilised by nursing staff.

About the Department
Our Surgical ward has 31 bedrooms and consists of both surgical and medical patients undergoing surgical intervention in various specialities such as orthopaedic, vascular, plastics, gynaecology, general surgery, bariatric, endocrinology renal and liver transplants.
You will join a motivated team delivering a high standard of care to your patients in a fast moving environment. We also rotate the nurses to the Pre –admission clinic which is based in the same department.
The department is lead by the General Manager, Lead Nurse , Sister and Charge Nurse supported by Senior Staff Nurse, Staff nurses HCA, Admin staff.
