Registered Nurse - Community - Up to £30,000 + unsocial hours and excellent benefits. South East London
PULSE is working in partnership with a national private organisation that provide a high quality specialist service that enables patients to receive acute healthcare in their own homes. This service has proven that it does help patients to recover better and faster than they would as hospital in-patients, in addition to providing cost and bed-availability benefits for the hospitals that they work in partnership with.
We are looking to recruit Registered Nurses who have an acute hospital background who would like to work in conjunction with leading London NHS Trust but caring for patients in their own home. Successful candidates will have a caseload of 5- 7 patients per day as the time the nurses spend with each patient is of utmost importance to the organisation. The patient turnover will be rapid as you the average length of patient care is between 2 – 7 days.
A varied acute nursing background is essential as are excellent communication skills as you will be liaising with the hospital staff at the time of transferring the clinical and nursing care of the patient from the hospital to the community in addition to liaising with the community nursing team within the Primary Care Trust (if required) at the time the patient is fully ready to be discharged.
As the patient is still requiring acute nursing and medical treatment it would be desirable for successful candidates to be able to cannulate and take blood, however if you are not competent in 1 or both of these areas but you have a background knowledge and/or minimal exposure they are happy to offer refresher training in the induction. IV therapy experience is however essential.
The company is committed to quality and you can expect detailed training and induction programmes in addition ongoing professional and career development opportunities.
As this is a community-based post it is desirable that the successful candidates are car drivers and preferably with access to their own car (mileage is fully expensed). However depending on experience we will look at those candidates who can cycle and/or use public transport.
