Further information

Queen Mary's Hospital is expected to transfer to Oxleas later this year. Help us to put local plans into action now to develop it as a centre for high quality health services for Bexley residents. There is a great vision for the development of Queen Mary's - be part of it.

We are looking to recruit motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated Registered Nurses (Adult) with post-qualification experience in acute or intermediate care to come and work on Chislehurst Ward.

Chislehurst Ward is a new 10-bedded, Nurse-led unit based within Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup. Our aim is to prevent acute hospital admissions for short term medical illness or rehabilitation needs, and to enable our patients to leave hospital early to return to their own home environment and live as independently as possible.

You must be able to demonstrate a genuine desire to work in a Nurse-led rehabilitation environment, and commitment to delivering the highest standards of quality patient-centred care using national quality standards and evidence based practice. You will also be able to demonstrate a proven ability to promote patient independence, with excellent communication skills, together with a sound theoretical knowledge under-pinning highly
skilled assessment and nursing skills, such as wound management, respiratory care, and diabetes management.

Ideally, you will also have a knowledge of neurological conditions, male and female catheterisation, venepuncture, mentorship, and management of falls.

The shifts are: 07:00-15:00; 13:00-21:00; 20:30-07:30. The posts are full-time, but part-time can be considered.

All staff have a mentor, and an annual appraisal with a Personal Development Plan. Oxleas actively encourage nursing skills development.

Informal visits are encouraged. Please contact Mary Titchener, Unit Manager, on 020 8302 2678 ext. 5423.

Oxleas is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We recognise our responsibility to ensure that safe working systems are in place for staff working with children, adults and families in their care.
