Medical Support Adviser

We’re looking for a Medical Support Advisor to join our Healthcare Services (HCS) Clinical Team within Bupa International to provide expert support and guidance to non-clinical and clinical staff to interpret our members’ conditions and evaluate medical information, with the end result of determining the clinical eligibility of treatment.

You will provide support to front line staff in authorising medical treatment to our customers around the world- because of this global focus, the role operates on a shift basis from 07:00-19:00.

You’ll be ultimately responsible for providing specialist advice and support to internal and external customers, whether by face to face meeting, telephone or written communication. In order to do this effectively, you’ll need to liaise with clinical staff across three of our businesses to interpret conditions and evaluate medical information.

You’ll act as a clinical expert to the business, and will be responsible for keeping your healthcare knowledge and registration up-to-date, and for communicating this knowledge to colleagues across the business. You’ll also act as the expert go-between with consultants, hospitals and the wider team.

You’ll need to discuss potentially sensitive medical information in a consistent and appropriate manner with colleagues, managers and our members themselves, making sure that you balance both the requirements of the individual members and those of the Bupa International business.

In order to be successful in this role, you’ll need to have experience in a related healthcare position, and have current registration with a recognised professional regulatory body. You’ll need excellent communication skills in order to tailor your approach to different audiences and be able to judge the best approach for our members, our stakeholders and your colleagues. You’ll also need to demonstrate empathy and a member-centred outlook, whilst also maintaining a professional outlook.

You’ll need to be flexible and be able to be successful in a constantly changing, regulated environment, and be adept at working under pressure in a multifunctional team. You’ll be happy to help out across your team and department, and be able to organise and manage your workload appropriately.
