My client offers unrivalled care at their specialised secure hospital for adolescents. A secure child and adolescent hospital that provides a safe environment, for the assessment, treatment and care of young people, aged 12 to 18 (male or female), who have been detained under the Mental Health Act.
Most of the patients have an extraordinarily complex illness, which present with abnormalities in physical and psychological functioning. The physical complications have the potential to cause permanent damage and in some cases are life threatening. The causes are complex and multifactorial including genetic, neurodevelopmental and environmental factors. They require a comprehensive response including medical, psychiatric, psychological, social and educational interventions.
The Hospital aims to provide a turning point in the lives of all adolescents who spend time there. The aim is to provide a safe and secure environment for the assessment and treatment of young people with mental health problems. A team of professionals from relevant specialties will assist the young people to reach their highest potential.
Our service has been developed as an independent resource for the NHS and nearly all our referrals come from NHS outpatient services. The secure service provides an assessment and treatment service (including forensic) for young people who are usually admitted under sections of the mental health act or under a Court or Ministry of Justice section eg 37/41.
