We are looking for a nurse with an interest in skin cancer to join our team and to work in partnership with our current CNS. The RFH is the regional Specialist Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Centre and the role will involve the provision of advice, counselling and supportive care to patients and their families in conjunction with the multidisciplinary teams in acute care, and in close liaison with Primary Care providers.
You will assist with all aspects of skin cancer care provision in association with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), provide clinical leadership, act as a nursing resource at an advanced level and provide expertise as a specialist practitioner in relation to skin cancer. In particular, this will involve regular attendance at the MDM as well as skin cancer surveillance and education in patients with melanoma attending for routine follow up and supporting the transplant skin surveillance clinic which provides yearly screening of immunosuppressed patients in line with National Cancer Peer Review. In addition you will have the opportunity of assisting with Mohs micrographic surgery, performing skin surgery and expanding our photodynamic therapy service.
You will also ensure your on-going development of knowledge together with an awareness of current research to support and underpin clinical practice. In association with the MDT you will contribute to Peer Review ensuring measures are met and adhered to, and play a part in the wider work of the skin cancer teams across the integrated cancer systems.
You will need 5 years post-registration experience and 2 years experience as a Band 6/7 in a cancer setting. You should be educated to degree level and either have or be willing to work towards a Masters qualification. You will need leadership skills to establish this role and develop collaborative working relationships with different teams.
