We have the following opportunities:
District Nurse Levenwick Ref: C2/NT
Based at Levenwick Health Centre you will be the caseload holder for the practice population of approx 2500. Working with the other Band 6 colleagues in the South team you will lead a team of Community Staff Nurses and Support Workers to provide person-centred, effective and safe services to the population of the South Mainland of Shetland. This post also contributes to the delivery of the Out of Hours nursing service for mainland Shetland.
District Nurse Whalsay Ref: C3/NT
Based at Whalsay Health Centre you will be the caseload holder for the practice population of approx 1100. Supported by a small team, you will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients registered with the practice. There is an on-call
commitment on a rota basis for which an additional payment is made.
Non-Doctor Island Relief Nurse/Out of Hours Practitioner Ref: C4/NT
(Fixed term for 12 months)
We are looking for an enthusiastic autonomous practitioner to provide nursing cover on the non-doctor islands within Shetland, namely Fair Isle, Foula, Skerries and Fetlar. The post holder acts as fi rst point of contact for the public in the absence of a resident medical practitioner. In addition this post holder will participate in the overnight Out of Hours Nursing Services, providing a “see and treat” service for individuals with minor illness/minor ailments. The commitment to nights is one week in 4 for which a night shift allowance is paid.
For all roles, whilst we are ideally seeking an individual holding a District Nurse qualifi cation, due to the varied duties of these posts, individuals with other professional qualifi cations/backgrounds will be considered e.g. Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Acute Assessment skills/Advanced Clinical Skills. A Non-Medical Prescribing Qualifi cation would also be an advantage. A full driving licence is required for all posts.
